“This one's for the girls, who love without holding back, who dream with everything they have.”
~ Martina McBride
We all want to be a part of something, leave our mark, and inspire change. October 2, 2010, we will gather as friends, family, children, adults, men, and women who all want to show our support in an end to breast cancer.
This walk is so much more than three miles; it is your chance to claim that you matter. Your participation in this event helps fund the Roots and Wings program, allowing it to continue to connect girls with their inner leader, while impacting change throughout the community. A majority of the proceeds, will be donated to the Susan G. Komen 3Day for the Cure in memory of Karen Boccella-Lemmon.
Karen represents every woman, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and family member who hears the word “cancer”.This year we will walk in her memory, cherishing what it means to live, to fight, and to be loved.
Your impact begins at preregistration. Click HERE to begin. Claim your spot, recruit your friends, and begin your fund raising efforts. Each walker is encouraged to raise $100 with all checks being made out to Foundation to Fly. As a walker, you receive a t-shirt, picnic lunch, and the feeling that only comes when you give a part of yourself to help another. You matter. You make a difference. Together, we will change this world!
Saturday, October 2, 2010, we will meet at Gary Pirkle Park in Sugar Hill, GA. Registration will begin at 9:00am and close at 9:30am. All walkers must complete registration prior to 9:30am, including their $10 registration fee, submitting all funds raised, and signing the waiver. Please arrive on time in order to make this a swift process.
Only walkers and volunteers will be permitted on the route, consisting of one half mile loop. Friends and family members are encouraged to attend opening ceremonies and proceed to a cheering station along the route, with their signs, music, banners, funny hats, and anything to help encourage you along the way.
The walk will last approximately one hour and culminate with closing ceremonies and a picnic. All walkers will receive a shirt and ticket for lunch. Family members may purchase lunch for $2. Please note, for safety reasons, all walkers under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present with them on site for the entire event.
Volunteers are not only needed, but wholeheartedly appreciated! If you would like to volunteer for the event, it is a commitment to working hard for the reward of huge smiles, high fives, and being a part of something bigger than what can be touched, but is deeply felt. There are many places you could impact this event, from set up to closing ceremonies, and everything in between. Volunteers are expected to arrive at 8:00 am and commit to at least 5 hours of their time.
